Retrieval Grids

Retrieval grids are tables which include questions or tasks related to topics students have covered.  They are simple ways to engage students with this content and can help them to retrieve information.  They also allow for interleaving (spacing) as they usually include a mix of recent topics and those from earlier lessons.

This website explains retrieval grids well and provides some templates which you can adapt if you wish to.

Retrieval grids can be an excellent way to start a lesson although they can, of course, be used any time during a lesson.
