Activity

Teacher

The teacher outlines the activity and checks for understanding. They use metacognition strategies to model the process effectively. The teacher hands over learning to the students and facilitates by:

• Probing understanding

• Asking good questions

• Providing differentiated resources and choice

The teacher listens/observes and judges when it is appropriate to review learning (content and process) with the class or individuals.

Student

Students work individually, in pairs or small groups. They are active in their learning, thinking about the information they have been given, researching further information, making decisions, discussing ideas and arguing points of view.

They are also practising learner skills (communication, thinking, collaboration) and developing learner attributes (5Rs + 1).
